FIRE Calculator for UK & Australia
A calculator for working out your path to Financial Independence, built for UK and/or Australian residents. It handles the different pension access ages and tax-advantaged accounts in each country, and treats housing as a first-class part of the plan: to be truly financially independent, you need to control the place you live in.
Where are your finances?
About You
Excludes housing costs — set those below.
Housing
To be truly financially independent you need somewhere to live that you control. Your retirement spending above excludes housing — pick your situation here and the calculator adds the right cost on top.
You own your home outright, so no housing costs are added to your retirement spending.
UK Accounts
Private pension accessible at age 57. ISA funds accessible anytime.
Pension (Workplace/SIPP)
Include: workplace pension, SIPP, personal pensions
ISA & Accessible Savings
Include: ISA balances, premium bonds, savings accounts, crypto
Assumptions
Assumptions & caveats: Contributions are held flat in nominal terms (they don't rise with inflation), so a long accumulation phase is modelled conservatively. Withdrawals and balances are shown pre-tax — UK pension and Australian super drawdowns in particular are taxed on the way out. A single spot exchange rate is applied across the whole projection. This is a planning tool, not financial advice.
